Uruluuk Guide - Gilded Prophecy

Uruluuk is the last boss in Gilded Prophecy and was known to be quite hard. With the nerfs the boss is much easier than he used to be, but personally I would still count him as the fourth hardest boss behind Lord Greenscale, Alsbeth the Discordant and Herald Gaurath.
Basic Information
- Difficulty Level: 7 (Hard)
Ideal Raid Composition
- 1 Tanks
- 3 Healers
- 2 Support (Archon, Bard)
- 4 DPS
Ability Summary & Recap
- Silvers of Earth - This is the boss’s auto attack cast on his highest threat target.
- Crystal Imprisonment - Emotes on a player and says they are about to be crystallized. There is a cast time so that player must run 10 meters away from the boss because the crystal will heal the boss if the crystal is too close.
- Crushing Boulder - ~3.5k damage raid AoE that must be healed ASAP because Explosive Crystal can follow it and vice versa.
- Explosive Crystal - Cast that deals damage to a random target and players within a 5 meter radius of that target. Must be healed asap because Crushing Boulder can follow and vice versa.
- Fist of Laethys - Instagib on the tank. Interruptible and reflectable.
- Storm of Force - Boss starts red ground pulses around him and anyone standing outside of these red pulses will die. Must run in and hug boss to avoid. Tanks may be able to stand outside but will still take a large amount of damage.
- Power of Greed, Shield of Gold, and Shield of Protection - Shrine buffs the boss gains during Phase 3 of the fight. Two are purgeable, while the Shield of Gold is permanent. The buffs reduce damage taken and increase damage done by 1% per stack.
Spawned Adds/Items
Three Shrines
- West: Shrine of Gold - Applies Shield of Gold buff to boss every ~5-10 seconds while it is up. Not purgeable.
- South: Shrine of Greed - Applies Power of Greed to boss every ~5-10 seconds while it is up. Purgeable.
- East: Shrine of Protection - Applies Shield of Protection to boss every ~5-10 seconds while it is up. Purgeable.
Skeletons
- Spawned from 30% to 0%. 2-3 come every ~3-5% and are picked up by main tank. Skeleton adds heal Uruluuk when near him.
Strategy
Phase 1: Ground Phase
All positioning mentioned is as you are facing the boss when you are about to pull. Meaning Uruluuk’s first position is north.
At the beginning of the fight the boss will start at the top of some steps. He is a caster boss so he will not move unless you LoS him, but LoS is not needed at all and will only complicate the fight more. When pulling let the tank rush in and tank him where he stands while melee follow, and ranged DPS spread out on the steps in the meantime. You only have about 10 seconds to DPS the boss before he casts Crystal Imprisonment and teleports to one of his West, South, or East positions.
Uruluuk will teleport to one of three locations (West, East, and South). Your whole raid should follow him and set up positioning where he is at similar to what you had on the pull. Melee on boss and ranged spread out around him is the general idea. He will teleport more than once so be ready to move.
As you are dealing with his teleportation he will use five abilities that are used constantly throughout the whole fight. Crystal Imprisonment, Crushing Boulder, Explosive Crystal, Fist of Laethys, and Storm of Force.
When Crystal Imprisonment is casted there will be an emote. The crystal will heal the boss if it is within 10 meters of him so the player targeted must run away from him, but not too far so melee don’t have to run a whole lot. The crystal has ~60k HP so all players must swap and kill it.
Crushing Boulder is an raid wide AoE damage affect that cannot be avoided. You must heal it asap because Explosive Crystal can happen immediately after and vice versa. Explosive Crystal is an ability targeted on one player that deals damage to them and those around him in a 5 meter radius. Make sure your raid stays spread out as much as they can.
Fist of Laethys is an ability that must be interrupted or reflected or else it your tank will get one shot. Reflect is preferred since it deals ~30k damage to the boss, but either one will work. Not a hard ability at all.
Storm of Force is when the boss begins a channel and starts to pulse red ground effects around his feet. If you are not on top of Uruluuk when the cast finishes you will get one shot, so you must be close enough to the boss that you can run in and out for this ability.
Make sure you understand this phase because the other two ground phases is phase 1 plus one other mechanic. Understanding Phase 1 is key.
Phase 2: Air Phase
The boss will start this phase by teleporting to the top of his room. You cannot attack him while he is up there, and you should not attempt to chase him down. When he begins this phase you want your whole raid to run to the middle of the room and stand on top of each other. The reason for this is that he will emote and spawn a crystal on one random raid member that protects the raid from the massive AoE damage he is about to unleash.
He will spawn 2 adds that must be picked up by the tank, and deal massive AoE damage to the raid every 2 seconds. Anyone outside of the crystals radius will die, but if you are inside you will be able to get healed through the damage. The damage increases every tick, so it will start at 500 and end around 2500.
After he does the massive AoE damage he will teleport down on top of the pedestal in the middle of the room (you should have placed your protective crystal there). For 15-20 seconds after he teleports down from Air Phase he takes 20% more damage which is why you want the protective crystal in the middle. You want to get on him asap and burn as much health as you possibly can to make the fight that much quicker.
This phase is very, very easy and is mostly about positioning the crystal properly so you can get extra DPS time on the boss when he teleports down.
Phase 3: Ground Phase + Shrines
After the Air Phase he will go back into Phase 3, which is Phase 1 with a few added mechanics. If you do not remember the strategy for Phase 1 go look over it now because you must know the mechanics of that phase.
The new mechanics are the shrines that spawn. They spawn at the West, East, and South and have a radiating pulsing bubble around them that increase damage done by 50%. After you are finished burning the boss down while he is taking 20% increased damage all of your DPS should go to the West shrine first. You kill the West shrine first because it gives Uruluuk a buff that cannot be purged, while the other two can. You want to kill this shrine as fast as possible so he does not gain too many stacks of the buff which increases damage done and damage taken by 1%. Make sure you have a purger and they constantly purge the boss of the other two buffs.
After the West shrine you move to the South shrine because it is the next closest, and after the South shrine you kill the East shrine. Make sure you are paying attention to the four abilities casted throughout the whole fight: Crystal Imprisonment, Crushing Boulder, Explosive Crystal, Fist of Laethys, and Storm of Force. You will wipe very quickly if you do not plan ahead and position yourselves properly to counter those abilities.
When all three shrines are dead you continue to fight as normal until he goes back into the air. You will repeat Phase 2 and Phase 3 now until you hit 30%. So the fight should look like: Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, Phase 2, Phase 3, Phase 2, Phase 3, etc... until you hit Phase 4 which begins at 30%.
Phase 4: Ground Phase + Skeletons
This phase is Phase 1 once again, but two old mechanics are removed and one new one is added in. The two mechanics which no longer occur in the fight is the teleportation to one of three locations, and Crystal Imprisonment. The added mechanic are the ~2-3 skeleton adds that spawn from the south side of the room every 30 seconds or so.
When this phase begins he no longer needs to be tanked. He will teleport back to his original starting position at the top of the steps and chain cast Explosive Crystal (pretty much his new auto attack for this phase), which is the radius AoE directed on a single enemy player. Your raid must spread out and this means it is bad to have more than three or four melee DPS. As long as you are spread out, though, you will be fine.
The skeleton adds that spawn are picked up by the main tank and tanked off to the side. Every ~3-5% health a new add will spawn and must be picked up. DPS can kill the adds, but I suggest you stay spread out and burn the boss. The adds do not hit the tanks very hard and can be tanked until the end. One of the adds will enrage every now and then but it is purgeable. Just have the purger watching keep an eye out for this. If the skeleton adds go near the boss they will heal the boss for 1% health per second, so make sure you tank the skeleton adds a decent amount away, but not too far away because remember he still uses his old Phase 1 abilities.
Besides picking up the skeleton adds and spreading out properly the hardest part of the fight is moving in for Storm of Force because the tank has to run in without cleaving raid members or healing the boss too much. The tank needs to pay perfect attention to that Storm of Force cast bar and run in at the last second, and then run back out. As for the raid, the boss will not cast any AoE while he does Storm of Force but you must spread out immediately after the cast finishes because he will begin to spam Explosive Crystal again and you do not want to be stacked up on top of each other for that. If you can survive one Storm of Force transition during this last phase then you are very close to a kill.
If the boss dies from a reflected attack you will not be able to loot, so do not reflect when boss is below 5% health!!!
