General Advice
Using a Sunfish Po-Boy gives you one of five costumes for two minutes. See the Summerfest Survival food section for more info.
You need a total of 20 Sunfish and 10 Sunplant leaves to complete the quests each day in Phase 1 and 2. This works out to an average of needing to find two Summer Sunplant nodes a day.
Using a lure, eating a Po-Boy or crafting a Sunfish into a Po-Boy removes an item from your quest tally.
Two Summer Sunplant nodes spawn per zone. Unknown on respawn time, or in population in zone is an influence. A level 50 can use a plant node that spawns in a level 1 zone.
Summer Sunplant nodes also sometimes give event currency. The likelihood of this happening seems to be related to your level vs. the zone level.
Sharing a Summer Sunplant node does slightly reduce the items you catch, but not to a crippling point. Soloing you can get about twenty items per node, sharing with one person we both tend to get around fifteen items per node. So sharing with one or two other people will not be too bad. So, as a matter of etiquette, if you see 2 or 3 people at a node already, move to another node. Crowding will not help any of us.
Summerfest Fishing Achievements
Summerfest has one fishing related achievement. It has no survival related achievements.
- Angling for the Top: Catch 100 Summer Sunfish.
Summerfest Lures and Poles
Summerfest gives us one new lure. As of 5-31-2012 you can not buy the recipe for this lure, and can only make the lure when you have the quest active.
You can use this lure to catch Sunfish in any body of water that normally gives fish, regardless of if a Summer Sunplant is present.
Sunplant Leaves can be found while fishing near a Summer Sunplant.
Summerfest Survival Food
Summerfest gives us one new Survival food. It is a vanity food, like those from other events, that can change you into a random critter or mob.
You can buy the recipe for this food from Armillus for 75 event currency. Armillus is located right next to the quest giver. You DO NOT have to buy the recipe to complete the quests.
Sunfish are found by fishing near a Summer Sunplant.
This food can morph you into:
Phase 1 & 2 Survival Quests
It is best to do the two Fishing quests (Summer Sunfishin and Lurecraft) at the same time as the Survival quest (Sandwiches for Everyone!)
You must make ten Summer Sunfish and ten Dough into ten Sunfish Po' Boys. Yep, that's all. Open crafting window, select Sunfish Po' Boy and enter ten. That's it.
For details on how to fish up the Summer Sunfish please see below.
For details on what the Sunfish Po' Boy can do see above.
Phase 1 & 2 Fishing Quests
It is best to do the two Fishing quests (Summer Sunfishin' and Lurecraft) at the same time as the Survival quest (Sandwiches for Everyone!)
This is a Summer Sunplant. Sometimes they are very near the shore and require you to back up a bit to get into fishing range for it, and sometimes they are in the water. They will always be in shallow water areas. You will know that you are in the area of effect for the Summer Sunplant when your casting icon turns teal, as with other special fishing nodes.
The Summer Sunplants will appear on your maps as nodes in a similar manner to other events. As of 5-31-2012 they use the same icons as Dragon Pinatas.
The fishing related quests are simple. You must fish up ten Summer Sunfish and make two Summer Sunfish Lures (ten leaves total). Using your lures or Sunfish will take an item away from your quest talley. So if you are also doing the survival quest you will need an additional ten Summer Sunfish.
