A Guide to Planar Attunement
Author: Pamela in MMOSite
RIFT's Ashes of History event has progressed into Phase 2. Guardians and Defiants are still tasked with picking up dailies in their capital cities, but a few of the dailies have changed with the phase shift. Additionally, the event merchant sells a few more items as well.
Adventurer's Hat and Kelari Robe
Gamers can now purchase the Adventurer's Hat and the Ancient Kelari Robe from the event merchant in their capitol city. The Adventurer's Hat is an appearance helmet piece that can be equipped in a character's wardrobe tab. The Ancient Kelari Robe is an appearance chest piece that can be used in a character's wardrobe, too. Each item costs 500 Magma Opals.

Guardians
Guardian gamers need to speak to Fradumir in Tavril Plaza. He has a purple explanation point above his head for the Unlikely Alliances quest. This is a story quest that will unlock the dailies for Phase 2 of the event.
A Guardian will be asked to return to the area where The Travel Stones quest was completed during Phase 1 of the event. This is located right outside of Sanctum and is easily traveled to by jumping off the right side of the bridge leading out of Sanctum. Swim to the shore opposite of the city and veer slightly right. The travel stone will appear different than it did in Phase 1.
A Guardian spying during Unlikely Alliances
Simply use the item, the Deer Focus, Fradumir gave you to turn into a deer. If an ogre and a kobold aren't already speaking to each other, using the Deer Focus will prompt them. If the ogre and the kobold are already out when you get there, simply use the item to turn into a deer and wait for them to finish their conversation. They will use the travel stone and your quest should then require you to return to Fradumir. He'll reward you with 25 Magma Opals and some experience.
NOTE: You can right-click the buff that turns you into a deer to remove the transformation. This will let you mount and return to Fradumir quicker.
After completing Unlikely Alliances, a number of dailies will open up. A few of them will be detailed in the Shared Dailies section below since those quests are identical between Guardians and Defiants. The Amazing Amalgam and Unannounced Arrival are available to both factions, but each have a unique solution between them.
The Amazing Amalgam
Create a Resonating Inscribed Travel Stone at the Stonetouched Forge in Sanctum.
Nitisko offers this quest to Guardians and asks the player to use the forge behind him to create a Resonating Stone. When you pick the quest up you'll be given four differently colored stones. You use the forge to combine them in certain ways until you create a Resonating Inscribed Travel Stone. If you fail, there is a chest to pick up the four stones so you can try again.
Forging a Resonating Stone in Sanctum
Simply click the forge after picking up the quest. A menu will open with several stone combining options. Select "Combine a yellow and blue marked stone" to continue. Loot the stone and click the forge again. A different list of options will pop up. Select "Combine a green and red marked stone" to continue. Loot the stone and turn it in to Nitisko. You'll be given 25 Magma Opals and experience for your stone combining skills.
Unannounced Arrival
Use the Harmonic Trigger within the group of travel stones on Fletcher's Beach.
Fradumir offers this quest to Guardians and asks them to use an item at a location in Silverwood. All you have to do is travel to Fletcher's Beach, use the Harmonic Trigger, and then return to Fradumir. Fletcher's Beach is a beach on the coast of course. It is a moderate walk north of where the travel stone is located. You can actually run along the coast, with a little swimming, to get there from the travel stone. With that in mind, it's probably the easiest to jump off of the Sanctum bridge, swim up to the travel stone, and the ride along coast to Fletcher's Beach.
Unannounced Arrival location for Guardians
After you arrive, stand inside the stones and use the Harmonic Trigger. Sometimes an equal level mob will spawn. You can fight it or run; it doesn't matter so long as your quest has updated to returning to Fradumir. Return to Sanctum for 25 Magma Opals and more experience.
Defiants
Like Phase 1, Defiants need to speak to Sophasa the Farseeing. As usual, she is located in the Training Yard to the right of the large staircase that leads into Meridian. Sophasa will offer the Unlikely Alliances quest which will open up the event dailies.
Sophasa will ask the player to visit the travel stone outside of Meridian. Players that participated in Phase 1 will remember heading out there to investigate the stone last week. The stone is located right outside Meridian; a Defiant merely needs to head down the main staircase and travel to their right. A line of torches will guide you up to the stone.
Activate the Deer Focus Sophasa gave you when you're near the stone. This will turn you into a deer so you can spy on those speaking in front of the stone. If the ogre and the kobold are already there when you arrive, simply use the item to turn into a deer and wait for them to finish. If no NPCs are there, use the item to turn into a deer; this will spawn the NPCs. Wait for your quest log or quest tracking to update and require you to return to Sophasa before you run off. She'll reward you with 25 Magma Opals and experience.
NOTE: You can right-click the buff that turns you into a deer to remove the transformation. This will let you mount and return to Sophasa quicker.
A Defiant spying during Unlikely Alliances
Once Unlikely Alliances is completed, you'll be able to pick up a few new dailies and some seen in Phase 1. Two new dailies are listed below and, although they share the same name as quests offered to Guardians, they are slightly unique to Defiants.
The Amazing Amalgam
Create a Resonating Inscribed Travel Stone at the Stonetouched Forge in Meridian.
Aposidis Draxxus wants you to create this stone by using the forge to his left. The forge is located to your right where, if you participated in Phase 1, the stone puzzle was found. Aposidis gives you four differently colored stones to start. If you fail combining them correctly, you can pick up four new stones in the chest next to the forge.
Clicking the forge will pull up a list of combining options. Select "Combine a red and blue marked stone" and loot the new stone. Click the forge again and select "Combine a purple and yellow marked stone." Loot the Resonating Inscribed Travel Stone and turn it in to Aposidis for 25 Magma Opals and experience.
Unannounced Arrival
Use the Harmonic Trigger within the group of travel stones on Crook Ridge.
Sophasa will offer this quest and ask the player to travel to Crook Ridge. Crook Ridge is extremely close to where the travel stone is outside of Meridian. Travel down the main staircase of Meridian, turn right, and instead of following the torches to the travel stone, simply veer slightly left. Use the Harmonic Trigger inside of the stone circle and make sure your quest log or tracker prompts you to return to Sophasa. Using the Harmonic Trigger has a chance to spawn an equal level mob, but you don't have to fight it to get credit for using the Harmonic Trigger.
Unannounced Arrival location for Defiants
Return to Sophasa for your 25 Magma Opals and more experience.
Shared Dailies
The remaining dailies are ones that were available in Phase 1 and are still offered in Phase 2. Dust, Rift Closed, and Reappropriation are confirmed. The remainder could show up during Phase 2, but have not been seen yet.
Dust
Collect Travel Stone Dust from rift creatures that would grant experience 0/15
Kill rift creatures that grant experience and loot Travel Stone Dust from their bodies to complete this quest. This requires you to tag the enemy first before another player that's not in your group or raid does. This also means you must beat those of the opposite faction. Collect 15 to complete the quest and return to your questgiver for 25 Magma Opals and experience.
Rift Closed
Close rifts that would grant experience 0/2
For this quest, players must close two rifts that offer experience. The two rifts closed do not need to be from any particular plane. Just make sure the enemies from the rift are at least green to your level (43+ for level 50s).
Reappropriation
Collect Travel Stone Fragments from Earth and Fire rifts that would grant experience 0/5
For this quest, you must shut down earth and fire rifts that offer experience. Travel Stone Fragments will show up in the rift loot once you have shut an appropriate rift. Major rifts always drop one while minor rifts seemed to be inconsistent in dropping the Fragments. This might be because there are so many shutting the minor rifts so particular groups end up not getting credit, or it could be because minor rifts are not guaranteed to give you the Fragments.
Have at Thee, Fiend
Kill rift creatures that would grant experience 0/15
This quest requires a player to kill any rift creature that would offer experience. Get rid of 15 creatures from any rift, no matter what plane they are from, to complete the quest. 25 Magma Opals is your reward alongside some experience.
Collect 5 of the Travel Stone Fragments to complete the quest. You'll get 25 Magma Opals and some experience for your trouble.
Shoring up the Wardstones
Bless or upgrade a wardstone 0/1
Simply bless or upgrade a wardstone that is near your level for credit. Of course, level 50s will need to travel to Stillmoor or Shimmersand to complete this quest. Another 25 Magma Opals and experience will be waiting for you in Sanctum or Meridian.
Fragmenting the Alliance
Close Fire or Earth rifts that grant experience 0/2
Like the Rift Closed quest, this quest requires the player to close two rifts. However, unlike Rift Closed, you must close two rifts from either the fire or earth planes to complete the quest. 25 Magma Opals and some experience will be your reward.
That is it for the Phase 2 dailies for the Ashes of History event. Check back for a guide to Phase 3 including its dailies, items unlocked, and more.
